Score 92/100 · Drink 2016-2025, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Aug 2016

The Agostina Pieri 2011 Brunello di Montalcino shows an attractive level of inner tension and energy when you first approach the glass. As the wine takes on more air, it fleshes out and expands with ripe fruit aromas of cherry confit and dried blackberry. It takes a minute before you are aware of the richness and the ripeness of the fruit at hand. The wine finishes with smooth tannins and slightly sweet flavors or dark spice and tobacco.

Tasted blind. Mid ruby with orange tinges. Lifted and a tiny bit grubby/reductive. Full-bodied and almost a little rich on the palate, but solidly built and firm on the finish and with wonderful chew. (WS)

Gentle, delicate scent. Light on the palate. Balanced, drinkable but perhaps lacking definition. (RH)
