Tasted blind at the Burgfest annual tasting, the 2014 Chablis 1er Cru Les Lys by Daniel Dampt et Fils showed better than the example that I tasted last year. Here it has a fresh, Granny Smith apple and nettle-scented bouquet with fine mineralité underneath. The palate is fresh and taut with crisp acidity, tensile in the mouth with a detailed, chalky finish. It deserves a much higher score and should drink well over several years.

Vibrant lime fruit and a herby touch too. Quite one-dimensional, but the fruit has plenty of oomph. (RH)
