Really quite opulent on the nose. Nicely balanced. Good fruit impact and maturing nicely. Not that dense with good ingredients and length. Almost broachable! (JR)

Bright, dark red. Aromas of cassis, black cherry, licorice and bitter chocolate, plus a violet topnote. Juicy but rather tightly wound, even a bit reduced today, showing less sweetness than the family's top Marsannay cuvées . Not hard on the finish, but still needs to absorb some of its slightly edgy acidity. This wine represents an assemblage of lieu-dits .
The 2013 Gevrey-Chambertin Village, a blend of four lieux-dits, has a delineated and quite precise bouquet, but tightly wound at the moment. The palate is masculine with a chalky texture, structured and a bit “distant” at the moment. Perhaps it will gain more charm by the time of bottling?
