The aromas to this are so complex and spellbinding with rose petals, sandalwood and stones. Hints of almonds. Full body, ultra-fine tannins and an intense finish. Shows fantastic tension and compression. Precise line to the wine. Drink in 2022.

Bright, light red. Ineffable high-pitched perfume to the aromas and flavors of raspberry, rose petal, blood orange and mint. Improbably juicy, energetic and penetrating, conveying an impression of refinement and weightlessness. Finishes with outstanding rising length and pungent red fruit and floral intensity. This could hardly be more different in style from the Clos de la Roche, but then this wine is the product of Jadot's vines and vinification.

The 2014 Clos St Denis Grand Cru, from 55-year-old vines (more or less), has a very pure, delineated, sophisticated bouquet with captivating purity. It is actually more Clos de la Roche in style! The palate is very sensual on the entry with dark plum, sea salt and a hint of juniper berry. The tannins are fine but form a framework around the long finish, completing an impressive and delicious Clos Saint Denis from Jadot.

Light to mid crimson. Juicy and red-fruited, with just a slight tannic grip though the tannins are finely textured. This has a little more fruit weight in the middle than the Clos de la Roche and therefore better harmony. (JH)
