Score 90/100 · Drink 2020-2035, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Oct 2017
Tasted blind at the Burgfest annual tasting, the 2014 Chablis 1er Cru Montmains from Jean Paul Droin has a clean, honeydew melon and grapefruit-tinged bouquet that lacks the complexity of its peers, exhibiting less slate-like aromas than I discerned last year when I tasted the same wine at the domaine. The palate is fresh on the entry with crisp acidity, sour lemon and a pleasant saline finish. I would have just liked more length here, but I think with decanting it would have gained more volume. You can feel the concentration here but it is too young and feels coiled up at present.

Matchstick nose. Very juicy indeed. Lots of green fruit and tension. Great stuff. (JR)
