Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Mar 2017

The 2014 Siaurac was rather stilted on the nose when I tasted it and showed some signs of greenness. The palate is medium-bodied with light tannin, quite compact but tapering in towards a rather lean finish. It needs to develop the substance and the charm that it showed from barrel - this was a little disappointing. I will seek to reevaluate this.

The 2014 Siaurac is dark, bold and juicy. Black cherry, leather, smoke, grilled herbs and licorice are front and center. This is in an especially racy style, but it works very nicely. The 2014 is tasty, but a bit less expressive than it was from barrel. It is a potential sleeper for the vintage. Tasted two times.

Juicy and exuberant, the 2014 Siaurac is real gem. Voluptuous, forward fruit and supple feel are some of the signatures in this succulent, hugely pleasing red. Dark cherry, plum and sweet floral notes add to an impression of immediacy. All the elements fall into place effortlessly. Siaurac was purchased by the Artemis Group, which controls many high-end estates, including Latour, last year.

Final blend in a one-year-old barrel so that the sample is not too oaky – 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 5% Malbec. Lots of gravel and right on the border with Pomerol.  Dark crimson. Intense fruit aroma of cherry – a bit like a cough pastille – but the sweetness of fruit is complemented by a fresh herbal/cedary character. Delicate but insistent fragrance. Plenty of cassis on the palate and refined, dry super-fine tannins. Both scented and elegant with some graphite stoniness on the finish. Long too. Well done! (JH)
