Tasting notes
The 2013 Mazis Chambertin Grand Cru has a grumpy, woodland, damp moss-scented bouquet that is a curmudgeonly delight. It's like waking your snoozing granddad during his sacred afternoon nap. The palate is pure on the entry with exquisite dark berry and mulberry fruit with hints of dark chocolate lending another dimension toward the finish. Perhaps one of the most personality-driven red 2013s from Mounir this year. There is a feral nature to this Mazis-Chambertin that I love.

Good full red. Aromas of dark fruits, menthol, smoky minerals and white pepper suggest a powerful wine. Bright, energetic and youthfully imploded, showing a pronounced rocky character and terrific cut. This extremely young Mazis needs time to expand in barrel and will likely get a late bottling. Should be long-lived.
