Tasting notes
Bold and powerful to the core, the 2010 Brunello di Montalcino is terrific. Dense red stone fruit, flowers, mint, spices and licorice wrap around the palate in an insistent, resonant Brunello built on texture. The 2010 is going to need at least a few years to fully come together. Today, it is a bit of a brute, yet all the elements are in the right place.

The 2010 Brunello di Montalcino opens to a dark ruby color and pretty purple highlights. The bouquet is much more evolved than expected with jammy fruit aromas of blackberry preserves, kirsch, candied fruit, grilled herb and cherry liqueur. I was very surprised by the ripeness of the fruit on display here. Fruit does come from a lower area of the appellation where temperatures are higher. I expected more of this vintage.
Mid ruby with broad orange rim. Sappy, earthy cherry nose that is already quite open and forthcoming and with a hint of bell pepper. Supple fruit on the palate too, but the tannins are a little tough on the finish for the moment. Proper Brunello, if not the most complex and a little warm on the finish. (WS)

You can count on them for consistent wines crafted according to a conservative winemaking approach. They don't seeks to break any rules. More than statement wines, these are comfort wines. eRobertParker.com.February, 2015
