Tasting notes
Dark red. Vibrant nose offers black cherry, minerals, licorice and flowers. Juicy, dense and fine-grained, delivering lovely clarity for the vintage. The intense black cherry and licorice flavors really spread out to saturate the palate, but the finish is youthfully imploded, with some oak tannins giving the wine a slight bitter edge. This will require patience.

Good deep red. Very ripe aromas of black cherry, licorice, spices and espresso, all perked up by a minty nuance. Sweet on entry, then intense and juicy in the middle palate, with surprising energy and firm minerality. Deceptively open right now, perhaps owing to its rather high 3.7 pH. But the back end displays plenty of mineral and tannic force. Meo ages his premier crus in 50% to 75% new oak, and his grand crus, plus the Vosne-Romanee Cros Parantoux and Aux Brulees, in 100% new barrels.
