Pale, green-tinged yellow. Extremely primary nose hints at ripe stone fruits, menthol, smoke and minerals. Sweet on entry, then chewy and tactile in the middle, with a powerful spine of acidity giving this grand cru a much more backward impression today than the Bienvenue. This strongly mineral wine will need time and should be long-lived.

Big and bold. This really does taste like a Bâtard! Positive without being fat. Lots of substance. Acid well balanced. Bravo! (JR)
Yellow-green. Reticent nose hints at mirabelle and menthol. Much tighter and less pliant than the Bienvenue but with more incipient complexity and backbone. At once drier and larger-scaled but quite taut and backward today in spite of its full ripeness. A massive, impressively structured wine that reminded me a bit of a Montrachet.
About the producer
Domaine Paul Pernot is synonymous with Puligny-Montrachet. For the last 30 years, the estate – alongside Domaine Leflaive and Domaine de Montille (previously Château de Puligny-Montrachet) – has been one of the largest shareholders in the appellation.
