(13.2% natural alcohol) Deep ruby-red. Sauvage, superripe aromas of red fruits, leather and game. Offers a wonderfully sappy freshness in the mouth, but today this seems a bit less complex and concentrated than the Bonnes-Mares. Quite powerful, even a bit tough, on the aftertaste, with the tannins reaching the front teeth. This, too, will require substantial bottle aging.

Ruby-red. Slightly reduced nose hints at woodsmoke and mint. Juicy and sharply delineated, with flavors of bitter cherry, mint, licorice and shoe polish. Showing less personality in the middle palate today than the Echezeaux but finishes with intriguing, somewhat rustic notes of leather, earth and meat.
