Score 89.5/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2007
Good medium red. Dark red cherry, chocolate, red licorice and a whiff of fresh herbs on the nose. Rather massive in the mouth for 2004 but less pliant and expressive than the Reignots and a bit tough today on the back end, which features building tannins. This boasts impressive size for the vintage. Lachaux noted that it's 13.3% alcohol, the same as the '05, but with a higher pH.

Medium red. Licorice and minerals on the nose. Nicely sappy on the palate, with layered flavors of cherry and minerals. Finishes with substantial, dusty, ripe tannins and notes of griotte cherry and spice.
