The 2008 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru has a simple but quite pleasant nose: mulberry, black olive, a light marine influence at play here. The palate is medium-bodied with rather rustic tannins, quite ferrous towards the finish that shows no leafiness, but it does taper in a little. The vintage plays a dominant role here and just occludes the vineyard. I would drink this soon as the finish is quite dry.

Sweet, voluptuous, velvety fruit. Some mushrooms and lots of pleasure. Not the most structured; very forward. But oodles of charm. Fresh too on the finish though not much tannin. (JR)
30% whole bunches. 80% new oak. Dark crimson. Coffee notes and a bit of spice. Juicy and very round. Very ambitious. Some real charm. Certainly intense... (JR)
About the producer
Based south of Nuits-Saint-Georges in Prémeaux-Prissey, Domaine de la Vougeraie was created in 1999, grouping all of Jean-Claude Boisset’s holdings under one name. The property has a total 40 hectares of vines, with extensive holdings in Vougeot as well as plots in six Grands Crus.
