Tasting notes
(bottled in April of 2001). For sheer size and intensity, this is the king of the mountain in 1999 chez Jadot. But it accomplishes this through density of extract and superb concentration yet never loses its fine sense of balance. It offers superb spice and buckets of sappy pinot extract with penetrating, powerful flavors of surprisingly good precision, given the impressive size of this wine. Classy, long and beautiful. Jadot has been on quite a roll as of late with their Bonnes Mares and this is just one more great example. Consistent notes. Allen Meadows, Burghound, Mar04,2006.

The red and black currant-scented 1999 Bonnes Mares (domaine) is light to medium-bodied and foursquare. This concentrated, intense, blackberry-flavored wine is unyielding and firm. It has a highly expressive personality yet is loaded with rugged tannin. Projected maturity: 2006-2012. Pierre Rovani, Wine Advocate, Jun 2001

About the producer

Louis Jadot is arguably the most consistent négociant house in Burgundy. It has managed to straddle both the entry-level and fine wine market, while retaining respect in both.
