Produced from vines planted in 1984, harvested at a whopping 14.15% natural potential alcohol, the medium to dark ruby-colored 2002 Chambolle-Musigny Les Beaux Bruns bursts with red cherries, blackberries, and spices. This sensual, intensely refined effort reveals liquid velvet waves of spices, mocha, creamy red cherries, jammy raspberries, and candied blackberries. Ruby-red. Aromatic nose combines blackberry, violet, minerals and bitter chocolate. Sweet, penetrating flavors of blackberry, licorice and minerals. Firm and precise, with strong minerality as important to the wineÂ’s structure and vibrancy as its acidity. Finishes firmly tannic, long and subtle. This was 14.1% on September 17, says Mortet, who says that 2002 may be his best vintage to date for this and the Champeaux.

This estate, today with Arnaud Mortet at the helm, makes some of Gevrey-Chambertin’s finest wines. Working with 16 hectares, as well as a few négociant parcels, this property makes perfumed and chiselled Pinot Noir.
