The 2005 Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières is the most flamboyant wine in the range in this brilliant vintage for Coche. Bursting with aromas of sweet stone fruits, white flowers, buttery pastry and hazelnuts, it's broad, full-bodied and textural, with a lavish attack, good structure and a long, expansive, discreetly heady finish. This is drinking brilliantly and there's no reason to tempt providence by deferring gratification.

The 2005 Meursault Les Genevrières 1er Cru has a similar "crushed stone" element on the nose, albeit not as pronounced as the Les Chevaliers poured alongside. This is quite Perrières in style, very refined and poised, with scents of lemon verbena and hints of kaki fruit. The palate is brilliant. It's perfectly poised with an absolute killer line of acidity. Astounding electricity and nervosité run through this Meursault with a long saline aftertaste. Tasted at the Meursault dinner in Hong Kong.
