Released under the estate’s negociant label, the 2009 Morey Saint Denis is a terrific 2009 that has both richness and texture as well as finesse and complexity. From a hot year, it offers loads of framboise, dried flowers, forest floor and spice-cabinet in a ripe, supple, beautifully texture package that has no hard edges, balancing acidity, and a great finish. It’s drinking beautifully today but is going to hold for another decade given its overall balance. This is a rock-solid wine well worth checking out.

The 2009 Morey St. Denis is quite a bit fresher and more vibrant than the négociant Gevrey. Sweet dark red berries, flowers, mint and licorice are some of the many notes that take shape in the glass. There is a coolness to the Morey that is especially appealing in this vintage. Jeremy Seysses told me he did a couple of extra punch downs here because of the higher amount of old-vine fruit in this bottling. It worked. This is a hugely rewarding village-level Morey.

The 2009 Morey St. Denis reveals lovely intensity in its dark fruit. This is a firm, vibrant Burgundy with lovely focus and fine overall balance.

(vinified with a high percentage of whole clusters) Good deep red. Cherry, raspberry, mocha and spices on the nose. Supple, sweet and fat; very ripe and soft. A distinctly easygoing wine with good stuffing and gentle tannins.
