The 2001 Echézeaux from Domaine Méo-Camuzet is firing on all cylinders. The nose is positively stuffed full of black fruit, hints of blood orange and slight cold steely scents emerging with time. But there is wonderful definition here. The palate feels juicy and saturated, plush in the mouth but counterbalanced by a keen line of acidity; it is bursting with Morello cherry towards the finish that is elegant for the first 20 minutes, then mutates into more savory-driven flavors. It is a wonderful, potent Echézeaux that has a long future.

Bright red-ruby. Pretty, pure aromas of redcurrant, tobacco and flowers. Juicy, pure, intense flavors of dark berries, leather and mint, with a strong oak component. Perfumed, fresh and sharply delineated. A very primary, tightly wound wine with lively acidity, firm tannins and subtle length.
