Tasting notes
Some vegetal, green-bean, smoked-meat characteristics dominate the 1981's aromatics. The wine is medium-bodied and more compact than usual, with a deep, dark garnet color. Although fully mature and in need of consumption, it was a remarkable success in what was an extremely difficult vintage in Cote Rotie. Mature now. Last tasted 12/94.

A bit dull on the nose. 1981 much better in Côte Rôtie than in Hermitage but this lacks core. Nice try. Bit simple and hot on the finish. OK for drinking now but quite dry at the end. [drink date should be 1994-99, system glitch!] (JR)
