Tasting notes
Tasted at the Comte Liger-Belair vertical at the Château de Vosne. The 2011 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Reignots has a slight but attractive leafiness on the nose, touches of Provençal herbs and a slight fish oil scent developing in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with sharpness to the tannin, a little angular compared to the 2009 or 2010. There is plenty of freshness here and tension, a pleasant sappiness that continues long on the aftertaste thus urging another sip. Very fine. Tasted June 2015.

Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The Vosne-Romanée Aux Reignots 2011 has a very fine, mineral-rich, tensile bouquet with fine focus, offering tart red cherries, raspberry and ripe oranges. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent red fruit, fleshy in the mouth with good weight, although this is missing some delineation and detail on the oaky finish. At the moment, the Les Petits Monts is showing more class. But of course, that can always change!
The 2011 Vosne-Romanée Aux Reignots is insanely beautiful. Impeccably graceful and layered on the palate, the 2011 impresses for its fabulous balance. At once rich and immediate yet also totally weightless, the Reignots captures the contrasts that make Burgundy so compelling. Bright saline notes support the vivid, striking finish. In 2011, the Reignots is simply dazzling.
Bright crimson. Broad, dramatic flourish on the nose. Lots of luscious fruit. Pretty firm finish but there is a lot here. Some mushrooms on the nose. Still quite tight. (JR)
