2005 Vosne Romanee Aux Reignots

Tasting notes
Good bright, dark red. Brooding, deep nose offers raspberry, dark chocolate and sassafras. Wonderfully rich but a bit youthfully medicinal today, combining a deep sweetness and superb precision and intensity of flavor. Bright acids keep its tight core of fruits and exotic spices under wraps today. This struck me as the most backward of Bouchard's three outstanding Vosne premier crus in 2005.

Full, deep ruby-red. Pure, minerally aromas of blackberry, black raspberry and licorice. Broad and sweet but penetrating on the palate, with strong acids giving energy and grip to the sappy crushed berry flavor. Still quite tightly wound. This is a bit like the Suchots in shape and structure, but finishes with a stronger impression of tannins and an almost medicinal austerity.
