The most backward of the Von Schubert 1991 offerings is the Abtsberg Riesling Kabinett. Despite its tightness and unevolved style, there is no doubting its profound character and richness. There are unbelievable layers of mineral-scented and flavored apple-like fruit, yet it tastes light, crisp, zesty, and beguiling. The finish is remarkably long in this dry, brilliantly etched wine. This renowned producer did better in 1991 with its drier wines than the Spatlese and Auslese offerings. Various importers.
