Score 90-93/100 · Drink 2005-2017, Robert Parker, Oct 2001
Although Veglio is from La Morra, his 1998 Barolo Castelletto comes from a vineyard in Monforte d'Alba. The least evolved of these single vineyard offerings, it displays an opaque ruby/purple color, and notes of cinnamon, minerals, earth, meat, and black fruits. In the mouth, the wine is medium-bodied and austere with more tannin and less seductiveness. However, it is loaded with glycerin and extract. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2017. A Marc de Grazia Selection, various American importers, including Michael Skurnik, Syosset, NY; tel. (516) 677-9300, Vin Divino, Chicago, IL; tel.
