Score 91/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Jul 2004

Pure, subtle aromas of quinine, lime and crushed stone. A step up in intensity from the foregoing premier crus, with sharply delineated mineral and citrus flavors. Very youthful Chablis , finishing long and tactile, with a flavor and texture of dusty stone. This really calls for at least two or three years of patience.

(not yet fined) Aromatic, pure nose combines pink grapefruit, apple, powdered stone, and spearmint. Chewy and dense but also quite bright, with ripe but bracing flavors of lime, stone and mint. Distinctly tactile and saline, and very long and fresh on the back. Offers an exhilarating sugar/acid balance and a strong impression of soil character. From 80-year-old vines (cropped at barely 40 hectoliters per hectare, vs. 55 for the first sample): Restrained nose dominated by licorice and pepper. Deeper and sweeter but more reserved than the young vines. Flavor of ripe grapefruit. Tight today in the mouth, but very pure, subtle and long. This too has a near-perfect sugar/acid equilibrium.
