A damp, black-fruited and chocolate-tinged nose introduces the 2010 Viñedo Chadwick, which drinks quite youthfully and takes a few minutes to start showing itself aromatically. The palate is seductively dense and incredibly refined, exuding the pitch-perfect precision that one comes to expect from any vintage of this wine. It culminates with an expansive, lavish finish that combines a floating perfume, grounded savory richness and refined tannins. This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in 95% new French oak barrels.

A cooler vintage than 2009, although still warm overall, and here the Cabernet Sauvignon signature is distinct, showcasing the Alto Maipo terroir and the skill of winemaker Francisco Baettig. Fully mature, showing beautiful sandalwood and spiced rosemary, bitter chocolate, smoked earth, along with cassis and blueberry fruits. Balanced acidities, fine tannins, this is fully mature, a great moment to drink. Harvests at the time were pushed a little later than today at Vinedo Chadwick, meaning hot Aprils had more of an impact on the fruit character and this shows a little more evolution at 13 years old than we can expect with more recent vintages. 95% new oak.

The 2010 Viñedo Chadwick vintage marked the zenith of the ripe stylistic approach to this wine. The 22 months in French barrels (95% new) and 14.5% alcohol set the tone for a Cabernet Sauvignon with a nose of tobacco, indulgent liqueur notes and slightly faded blackberry jam aromas. Broad and sugary with fairly dry tannins, the flavors die away somewhat rapidly.
