Tasting notes
The 2000 Balandra is a blend of 50% Grenache and 25% Carignan from 50-60 year old vines, and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon aged 10 months in both French and American oak, and bottled unfiltered. There are 40,000 bottles of this exceptional as well as realistically priced 2000. Full-bodied, with an inky/purple color and sweet, pure aromas of ripe raspberries intermixed with blueberries, crushed stones, new saddle leather, and melted licorice, this is an impressively endowed wine to enjoy over the next 5-8 years. Jordi Rotllan Torra was one of the pioneers of Priorat having founded this small estate in 1984, long before this now fashionable wine region became world renowned. Importer: Andre Tamars, De Maison Selections, Inc., Chapel Hill, NC; tel. (919) 933-4245
