Good full red. Aromas of plum syrup, espresso, smoke and earth. Sweet, fat and nicely concentrated, with red berry and sweet oak flavors. Offers very good texture for 2001, and finishes with rather soft, broad tannins. “This is the most tender of our 2001s today,” notes Bertrand. “The others are too closed to show.”

Round, gentle and seductive. True. Nutty and rich. Impressive, though the tannins are there. Very slightly sickly. (cask sample) (JR)

Brighter, more minerally nose shows a higher pitch to its red fruits. Juicy and fairly intense but with modest stuffing. Finishes with a firm tannic impression and a somewhat autumnal character.
