Saturated ruby-red. High-toned, extremely ripe aromas of cherry and chocolate liqueur. Large-scaled, creamy, rich and superripe but with good structure underneath. Boasts impressive volume and concentration but has enough verve to maintain its balance. Finishes very long and chocolatey, with huge but ripe tannins. (The Nuits Chaignots was carrying a moderate-for-the-vintage 13.8% alcohol, but showed a jammy overripeness and rather high volatile acidity.)

Good crimson. Sweet and scented. Firm, with a very, very slightly dry note. But substantial and well handled. Would not disappoint. (JR)
