(the malolactic fermentation finished about three weeks prior to my visit) Good medium red. Distinctly blacker aromas of dark raspberry, licorice and spices. Tightly wound and juicy, showing a pungent, slightly tart pomegranate quality and conveying a low-pH impression. Still a faint leesy quality: due to the recent end of the malo, this is behind most of Clavelier's other 2008s in its evolution. Finishes with a very firm tannin/acid spine.

Delicately fragrant with a hint of sweetness of fruit. So refined on the nose. That perfume carries through to a lightish mid palate that is nevertheless very persistent with a fine spicy finish. Enchanting and classy. (JH)
