Tasting notes
The flower and white-scented 1998 Chevalier-Montrachet was harvested at 13.5% natural potential alcohol. This medium-bodied wine is surprisingly intense, powerful, and concentrated, given the generally weak nature of the 1998 white Burgundies. It has superb focus to its pure, elegant, and crystalline, mineral-dominated personality. Projected maturity: 2002-2010. Importer: Robert Kacher Selections, Washington, DC; (202) 832-9083.

Pure, intense aromas of citrus skin and liquid stone. Very densely packed but minerally, vibrant and quite fine. Shows the new oak more than the Meursaults. Then very subtle and very long, finishing more uncompromisingly dry than the foregoing '98s.
About the producer

Based in Meursault and farming some of the finest vineyards in the Côte de Beaune, Henri Boillot is a leading address in Burgundy. He crafts fine Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, but the estate is best known for its flagship monopole vineyard, Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru Clos de la Mouchère.
