Bright, full red. Black cherry, licorice and a whiff of animal fur on the nose. Suppler and sweeter than the 1er cru, with sexy gamey flavors. Nicely horizontal on the persistent, scented back end, which features substantial fine-grained tannins. Dugat notes that this cuvee was less structured than usual in both 2007 and 2008-but then this wine can get hard and tough in the dry years, he added.

Very ripe aromas of black raspberry and smoked meat. Broader but less sweet than the premier cru; in fact, this is quite backward by comparison, showing more earth than fruit today. Very hard to assess.
A deft touch of wood frames cool, refined, elegant and quite pure red berry fruit aromas that carry obvious stony undertones that also characterize the supple, focused and intense flavors that are tautly muscled and feature real precision on the beautifully long finish.
