Tasting notes
A blend of Gewurztraminer, Riesling and Pinot Gris, the 2012 Toru exudes a lovely aromatic nose that harkens to the blend with scents of peaches, lychees and melon over a floral and honeyed undercurrent. Dry and delivering plenty of perfumed flavor, the palate has a pleasant suggestion of viscosity, an uplifting acid line and a long finish with some spiciness coming through. Drink it now to 2015+. Field blend of almost 65% Gewurztraminer, more than 20% Riesling and Pinot Gris. Very bright fruit on the nose, not predominantly any of these ingredients. The Riesling acidity keeps it fresh. The Gewurz lurks and the Pinot Gris adds a bit of flesh. Attractive off dry blend that has a bit more bottom and peronality than many an NZ single aromatic varietal. (JR)
