The 2005 Saarburger Rausch Riesling Beerenauslese A.P. #3, which will be auctioned, evinces pungent, Eiswein-like scents of radish, lemon oil, brown spices, and white raisin. Amazingly dense and rich but firm in texture on the palate, this grips with fingernails of botrytis bitterness and such blazing intensity that, yet again, we have a wine hard to assess fairly at this stage. Also recommended: 2005 Riesling ($16.00; 85+?). Importer: Rudi Wiest, Cellars International, Carlsbad, CA; tel. 800-596-9463
