Tasting notes

Tasting notes
Score 97-10/100 · Pierre Rovani

Produced from 80 year old vines planted at a 14,000 vines per hectare density, the 2002 Chambertin is whole-cluster fermented because of the tiny amount produced and crushed by foot by Bernard’s son Loic. Its waxy black cherry aromas are intermingled with notes of tar, licorice, mint, and spices. Viscous, hugely powerful, and dense, it saturates the palate with rocks, herbs, coffee, and black fruit pastes. Immensely concentrated and profound, it must be tasted to be believed, yet since only 198 liters (about 260 bottles) of this amazing elixir were produced in 2002, only the wealthiest and luckiest wine enthusiasts will ever experience it. Projected maturity: 2012-2030+. Bravo! Wine Advocate.June, 2004
