Tasting notes
(100% callet, from vines ranging from 50 to 80 years of age) Inky purple. Oak-spiced aromas of blackberry and cherry-cola, with a strong smoky overlay. Lush, sweet, palate-coating dark fruit preserve flavors are strongly marked by the lumber at first but aeration tones the oak down a few notches. Very modern and more about the treatment than the grape; there's clearly very good material here but it's hard to read through the trees.

The 2006 AN was sourced from the Son Negre Vineyard in central Mallorca and is composed primarily of Callet with a small amount of Mantonegre-Fogoneu aged for 17-19 months in new French barriques. Dark ruby-colored, it delivers an enticing perfume of wood smoke, Asian spices, espresso, rosemary, cinnamon, and black raspberry. Very concentrated and already revealing complexity, on the palate it is succulent, spicy, and elegant. Give it 2-3 years of additional cellaring and drink it from 2012 to 2018.
