Score 90/100 · Drink 2020-2032, Neal Martin, May 2019

The 2011 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Pruliers 1er Cru has a light but detailed bouquet that gradually unfurls in the glass. This is very pure and refined with raspberry, cranberry leaf, dried leaves and pressed flower scents that gain vigor in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with strawberry pastilles mixed with orange zest on the entry. There is a fine bead of acidity here, not overtly complex but tensile with respectable weight and structure on the finish. This shows better than the bottle at the Gourges retrospective. Tasted at Flint Wines Burgundy 2011.

The 2011 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Pruliers 1er Cru has a much leaner bouquet than the 2009 and 2010, scents of dried flowers, dried orange peel and a slight mulch-like aroma. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, a fine line of acidity, quite harmonious although considering the vineyard in question, I find this simplistic and just missing the personality of other vintages. Tasted at the Gouges retrospective at La Cabotte.

Mid crimson. Light and fresh. Some ferny quality. (JR)

Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. Initially the Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru Les Pruliers seems very reductive on the nose and it serves to neuter the fruit profile. The palate is chewy on the entry with moderate acidity, sappy red berry fruit that dovetail into what is a rather monochromatic finish that leaves you feeling a little short-changed. I much prefer either the 2010 or 2012.
