From magnum, disgorged in 2021 with a dosage of six grams per liter, Laurent-Perrier’s 1998 Alexandra Rosé emanates aromas of wild strawberry, grapefruit and dried apricot, with a subtle hint of Timut pepper. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied, ample and enveloping, with a rich core of fruit supported by a vibrant spine of acidity. The wine culminates in a long, perfumed finish, where Pinot Noir’s phenolic presence asserts itself. Born of a challenging vintage that required meticulous selection at harvest and—true to the cuvée’s identity—composed of 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay, with macerated Pinot Noir juices co-fermented alongside Chardonnay, it remains a distinguished effort that has matured with grace. It is time to drink it up.

The 1998 Brut Rosé Grand Siècle Alexandra is a beautifully delineated wine. Freshly cut flowers, spices, mint, crushed flowers and red berries are some of the notes that emerge from this silky, polished Rosé. With time in the glass, the wine turns vinous and rich. This is a very strong showing from Laurent Perrier. This is lot # L33PW102152N.
(made from 80% pinot noir and 20% chardonnay): Bright, orange-tinged pink. Pungent, expressive aromas of singed orange, fresh red berries and gingerbread, with a hint of toasty lees. Deeply concentrated red fruit and citrus zest flavors are impressively lithe and focused, with a back-end kick of peppery spices adding lift. Silky, bright and focused on the smoky, mineral-accented finish, which lingers with impressive tenacity and length. Seems still quite youthful.
