Score 93/100 · Drink 2004-2017, Robert Parker, Apr 2004

The estate-grown 2001 Finca Dofi, fashioned from tiny yields of 20 hectoliters per hectare, was aged in 100% new French oak. A blend of 60% Grenache, and the rest Carignan, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Merlot, it appears to be the finest vintage of this cuvee I have yet tasted. Inky/purple to the rim with a sweet nose of creme de cassis, blackberries, minerals, and a hint of acacia flowers, this intense, opulent, full-bodied, seamless 2001 is already accessible. It can be drunk young, or cellared for 12-13 years. Importer: The Rare Wine Co., Sonoma, CA; tel. (707) 996-4484

Very distinctively mineral. Dry stone and heat on the nose. Edge of coconut milk on a really tense, chewy palate. Quite refreshing for the alcohol level. Speaks of the vineyard. Well mannered. Marked acidity and tannin, but with integrity. Fruit, not oak. (JR)

(60% garnacha, with syrah, cariñena, merlot and cabernet sauvignon) Red-ruby. Very ripe but fresh aromas of black cherry, licorice and flowers. Dense, sweet and lush but also suave and penetrating, with black fruit, violet and lead pencil flavors nicely framed by firm acidity. This really mounts on the back end and lingers. The tannins are quite fine. As in most years, a Priorat wine of atypical finesse.
