Tasting notes
Dark ruby-colored, the 2002 Vosne-Romanee Vieilles Vignes bursts forth with fabulous aromas of licorice, tar, roses, and violets. This wine is reminiscent of an incredibly muscular yet graceful female athlete. Medium to full-bodied, it is intensely powerful, yet refined. Its cassis and black cherry fruit is seductive and candied yet fresh and beautifully buttressed by a firm structure. Projected maturity: 2007-2016. Full ruby-red. Very dark aromas of cassis, blueberry, licorice and violet. Leaner and firmer than the Gevrey premier crus, with a bit less flesh for its tannic spine. But a very intense and rather powerful village wine with precise blackberry flavor.
