Tasting notes
Tasted at the Comte Liger-Belair vertical at the Château de Vosne. The 2009 Vosne-Romanée Clos du Château clearly has more fruit concentration on the nose compared to the 2007 and 2008: sensual red cherries mixed with raspberry and orange blossom. I like how seamlessly the oak is integrated here. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin and a crisp line of acidity. This is the oldest vintage that feels as if it could benefit from more bottle age. This is very fine. Tasted June 2015.

Pale-ish ruby. Very sweet and luscious. Something almost beetrooty on the nose. Sweet and sour, very seductive, gorgeous already. (JR)

The 2009 Vosne-Romanee Clos du Chateau wafts from the glass with freshly cut flowers, mint, spices and sweet dark cherries. This is an ethereal, delicate Burgundy that is quite appealing for its fragility and sensual, feminine personality. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. Louis-Michel Liger-Belair’s 2009s have turned out just as great as I thought they would. These are some of the most personal, intimate wines being made in Burgundy. There really is nothing else that even closely resembles the house style. Importer: Grand Cru Selections, New York, NY; tel. (212) 974-2500
