The home estate of Pierre Lurton, the manager of Cheval Blanc, this is one of his better efforts in a number of years. An attractive, fruity, soft wine with lots of berry fruit as well as some loamy soil notes; it is medium-bodied, with good purity and overall balance. A sleeper of the vintage, it will be best drunk over the next several years.

Pierre Lurton of Chx Cheval Blanc and d'Yquem's home farm. Very dark purple. Pretty ripe and concentrated on the nose. Very sweet and luscious – really quite different from the Bordeaux norm – so opulent and fragrant! My first 2009. Not so dense on the palate but super-beguiling, almost more like an eau de cologne than a wine. (JR)

Blackberry and fresh herbs on the nose follow through to a full body, with lots of juicy fruit and a plummy aftertaste
