Tasting notes
The 1998 Tirant is rich, with a saturated opaque blue/purple color. Extremely full-bodied, dense, powerful, and layered, it possesses impressive seamlessness, opulence, and thickness. The 1998 should drink well for 15+ years. Importer: De Maison Selections, Chapel Hill, NC; tel. (919) 933-4245

(from 100-year-old grenache and carignan) Saturated ruby. Very reduced nose of game and gunflint; sauvage and distinctly high-toned. Sweet, thick and quite powerful, with some rather rustic gamey flavors. Finishes very long, with huge but even tannins and a repeating note of gunflint. Not exactly a poster child for modern vinification, but long on personality.
