This wine draws its fruit from Akrotiri, which is located in the southern part of the island near the mind-blowing archeological park of the same name (Akrotiri was an ancient city buried by a volcanic eruption 4,000 years BEFORE Pompeii). The OENO Π 2021 Santorini Tria Ampelia Pithari 6 has a soapy bouquet with fragrant tones of lavender pastilles, honeysuckle and candle wax. The wine is definitely less mineral and more floral instead. Paris Sigalas affirms that in his experience, these qualities bode well for the future evolution of the wine (excessive mineral tones lead to faster oxidation). I personally prefer the mineral tones, but this wine is a step ahead in terms of mouthfeel richness.

Expect lovely white peach aromas plus lots of fresh lemon juice from this nearly translucent Assyrtiko from sunny Santorini. Flavors are tart, lightly saline and pleasantly bitter, with lemon and lime pith on the long, electric finish.
