100% Sangiovese. Current vintage but Carlo Ferrini (oenologist and founder of Giodo) thinks it’s too young. Mid to dark crimson. Complex nose. Sweet palate entry, very ripe – riper than many Sangioveses. Stony, minerally finish. Energetic and appetising. Long. (JR)

With Sangiovese picked from the estate's younger vines, the Giodo 2021 La Quinta is punchy and bright with cherry confit, raspberry syrup and tart aromas of blood orange or nectarine. The wine is easy-drinking in spirit with open fruit and a reassuringly transparent personality. The finish is lean and fresh. This is a production of 13,000 bottles.

La Quinta vineyard was the fifth plot planted by Carlo Ferrini; a three-hectare plot at 400m above sea level. These youngest vines of the estate produce a 100% Sangiovese vinified in stainless steel before maturing for 12 months in a 50/50 mix of tonneaux and cocciopesto, followed by a final three to four months in concrete before bottling. A clean, modern, juicy Sangiovese, it offers bright red cherry scents with a herbal touch, while in the mouth it's really fresh and tight, delivering sapidity in spades. Subtle round tannins support a good intensity of red and black cherry, with some stoniness and a balsamic waft. Delicious. 12,000 bottles produced.

The aromatic kick of fennel, liqourice and bitter rosemary that places you in Italy, waves of savoury red fruits, tobacco and soy. Juicy, unfussy, enjoyable. 13,000 bottles only, from 3ha of vines at 400m elevation in the Tuscan hills. Aged in 700l oak casks for 12 months, going into 2,500 litre oak vats then cement tanks before bottling.
