Deep, saturated red-ruby. Deep, brooding aromas of black cherry, minerals and oak; conveys the coolness of this site. Dense and powerful but locked up tight today, with strong minerality giving the wine outstanding focus but keeping the powerfully stony flavors under wraps. I picked up an intriguing hint of truffley underbrush but this wine is virtually mute today and will need very long aging.

The 2010 Chambertin possesses striking energy and finesse in its dark red fruit, cassis, flowers, licorice and cloves. There is fabulous energy and focus, not to mention marvelous integrity. Readers who can find this wine should not hesitate. It is truly majestic.
