The 2025 La Tour Figeac has a reserved nose with black fruit, loam and tobacco, a little Left Bank in style, though I appreciate the delineation and focus. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins and fine acidity. There is a patina of dark chocolate that emerges towards the finish, which has good weight, but I am hoping it musters more finesse by the time of bottling.

The 2025 La Tour Figeac is soft, open-knit and quite pretty. Cabernet Franc overtones lift a core of ripe Merlot fruit in a soft, understated Saint-Émilion. Sandy and gravelly soils yield notable aromatic presence, which is amplified by 15% stems. This is beautifully done. Tasted two times.
About the producer
Situated on the Saint-Emilion side of the appellation’s border with Pomerol, this estate was part of Ch. Figeac until 1879. They were an early pioneer of biodynamic farming, having converted the entire estate in 1997.
