The 2025 Lespault-Martillac was picked from September 16 to 23 at 34 hl/ha. This is a step-up from the Domaine de la Solitude, with better delineation and a little less rustic, black plum and raspberry scents, a touch of iodine. The palate is medium-bodied with dark berry fruit, just a touch of bell pepper on the back palate, a bit Cabernet Franc-like in style even if there is none in this blend! Drink over the next decade.

A Merlot-dominant blend of 65% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Petit Verdot, the 2025 Château Lespault-Martillac is a gorgeous effort that's well worth your time and money. The nose reveals notes of ripe blackcurrants, spicy wood, and savory tobacco and herbal nuances. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it has a pure, layered, graceful mouthfeel, terrific balance, and a great finish. It checks in at 13% alcohol with a pH of 3.61.
This is medium- to full-bodied with firm, granular tannins, dark fruit, good length and a focused finish.
The 2025 Lespault-Martillac is powerful, tannic and quite promising. Black fruit, leather, gravel, incense and tobacco make a strong entrance. Beams of supporting tannin lend shape and energy throughout. The 2025 needs time to soften, but it is a superb effort.
