The 2025 Jean Faure was picked September 4 to 18 and matured in 40% oak casks (25% new), 10% in concrete and sandstone eggs. Of course, this Saint-Émilion belongs to the small but growing cadre of Cabernet Franc-based blends, this containing 65%. That comes through on the nose: blackberry, a touch of bell pepper, graphite and light smoky aromas. Good definition. The palate is medium-bodied with a fresh, sapid, peppery entry that is almost in Loire territory, though endowed with more weight and density. Finely balanced, there are subtle oyster shell notes that suffuse the finish. Linear and focused, this is a delicious Jean Faure that is, in some way, uncompromising in style… but I appreciate that.

Sporting a ruby/plum hue, the 2025 Château Jean Faure is based on 65% Cabernet Franc, 33% Merlot, and 2% Malbec that's still resting in 25% new barrels, 25% once-used oak, 40% foudre, and 10% concrete eggs. It has gorgeous aromatics of cassis, black raspberry, liquid violets, spicy oak, and graphite, and it's medium to full-bodied on the palate, with a pure, focused mouthfeel, fine, velvety tannins, and a great finish. Checking in at 13.5% alcohol with a pH of 3.65 and yields of 26 hectoliters per hectare, it's a beautiful wine in the making that should round out nicely with its élevage and have a broad drink window.

The 2025 Jean Faure is powerful and explosive, with great aromatic intensity and fine balance. Red-toned fruit, blood orange, pomegranate, mint and cinnamon lend tons of nuance. Jean Faure is one of the most distinctive wines in all of Bordeaux.

A distinctive blend of 65% Cabernet Franc, 33% Merlot and 2% Malbec, the 2025 Jean Faure is another brilliant wine in what has been a remarkable series from this estate in recent years. Bursting with aromas of sweet blackberries, rose petals and exotic spices, it's medium- to full-bodied, fleshy and concentrated, with an enveloping core of succulent, perfumed fruit framed by supple tannins, concluding with a long, aromatic finish.
