According to Loïc Dugat, 2017 and 2019 are drinking well now. From 0.14 ha on the slopes of the Combe Lavaux which do particularly well in warmer years. Two south-facing parcels cooled by breezes from the hills. In hot years they harvest it earlier to capture the freshness. Vines certified organic. 75% whole bunch, 30% new oak. Cask sample. Mid to deep crimson. A step up from the Lavaut St-Jacques in terms of darkness of fruit and richness, and a little more obvious oak but not too much, a touch more savoury. A note of stemmy freshnness as well as the dark-fruited and peppery purity. Tight, cool and almost lean in its elegance. The tannins seem too light at first in their fine-ness but are clearly there because the wine is balanced between fruit and shape and they build a little with each sip. A hint of spice on the long, subtle finish. The oak is really very subtle as the wine opens. Needs time. (JH)

The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux Saint-Jacques once again reasserts itself as the domaine's dominant premier cru, unfurling in the glass with notes of dark berries, spices, rose petals, potpourri and orange zest. Medium to full-bodied, pure and penetrating, it's vibrant and refined, with a bright spine and a long, saline finish. This is an especially elegant rendition of Dugat-Py's Lavaux in the making.
