Tasting notes
(the cuvee earmarked for the American importer). Dark ruby. Powerful aromas of roasted red berries and plum jam, with a hint of prune. Then chewy but vibrant in the mouth, with building flavors of fresh raspberry and cherry. Very concentrated and long, finishing with strong tannins and lingering red berries.

(Bessards and Greffieux) Deep ruby-red color. Aromas of black fruits, menthol and pepper. Highly concentrated, exotic flavors of crunchy black fruits, with a jammy, exotic aspect and a hint of dried berries. I can't recall an Hermitage here with so much volume and sucrosite With time in the glass, this showed liqueur-like raspberry and cherry flavors and the chewiness that comes from tiny berries. Finishes with big, broad, fine tannins and a compelling sappy character. In expressing his enthusiasm for this wine, Faurie mentioned the 1978 Chateau Rayas. This is 14. 8% alcohol, with a pH of 3. 8, without acidification.
